TIME MANAGEMENT FOR MISSION - II

1. Be vigorous at your parish visiting and keep your eyes and ears open. Notes of who has a piano in the living room or who would make a good Sunday school teacher can save you hours of time and agony when essential recruiting tasks come your way.

2. Surround yourself with decisive and "can do" people who have the energy and equipment to carry through on tasks.

3. Concentrate your energies. Don't take a passive role in twenty organizations but take a decisive role in one or two.

4. Have fixed program procedures and materials for Baptism preparation, First Communion preparation, Marriage preparation, etc. These can be added to and updated with experience but you won't have to spend emotional energy gathering together a program each time you face these tasks.

5. Stop fussing with your books and robes and dive into the coffee hour. Connecting with your people will give you no end of ideas, contacts, and resources for solving your problems.

6. Allow conflicts to surface and get dealt with through the normal structures of Parish life. This will save a lot of energy chasing around, putting out brush fires, trying to manage and control things on the side lines, or other people wanting to get your ear and control the outcome instead of risking having input to the whole group.

7. Face up to and deal with financial problems so you aren't always begging, pleading, and frustrated by a lack of basic resources.

8. Give priority to the items which contribute to growth and momentum. Momentum makes every task easier.

9. Don't mess with everything at once. Any system can only handle so much conflict and adapt to so much change at one time.

10. There are only four options with every piece of paper you get save it, respond, share it, or throw it.
