WAYS TO DEVELOP NEW CONTACTS - PART II
1. Visit inactive parishioners on a two or three year cycle to find out what is happening in their lives and who might be wanting closer contact with a life of faith and the Church.
2. Become visible and approachable in the community by participating in local media, community events, and local organizations and invite, invite, invite.
3. Help your lay ministers and church organizations, such as choirs, etc., achieve visibility and approachability in community activities and invite, invite, invite.
4. Attend parish socials and speak to all the people you do not know. Interested newcomers will often case your church and look for a safe opportunity for meeting the rector.
5. Crank up children's and youth activities and have contact with the parents. Many young families first attend church for the sake of their children. Accept that most people come to church initially for selfish reasons and spiritual growth comes gradually and later.
7. Develop an attractive parish newsletter that is mailed out regularly to the entire parish list to help those who do not come continue to feel a part of the parish and keep doors open for later.
