Desiree Stedman   The Venerable Desiree Stedman
Examining Chaplain for Eastern Canada

A “cradle Anglican”, Desiree was born in Ireland but moved to Canada with her husband in 1971. For the first 20 years of her career she ministered to peoples’ physical needs as a professional physiotherapist. But her career path took a turn when she enrolled at St. Pauls University in Ottawa, followed by Montreal Diocesan Theological College, and began ministering to peoples’ spiritual needs.

Although officially retired now, Desiree served for 25+ years in Anglican ministry in the Ottawa area. She is an Archdeacon Emeritus within the Anglican Network in Canada.

Desiree and her husband live in the Ottawa area and have three children. She is a voracious reader, avid walker and loves to cook.

“I love Anglicanism,” says Desiree, “for its balance of Word and sacrament, global mission and personal faith, personal succor and unending challenge.”
