Garth Hunt

  The Rev Canon Garth Hunt
Canon for Prayer Support

Garth is a priest at St George’s Anglican Church (Burlington, ON). He is the son of an evangelical Anglican priest, Leslie Hunt, who went on to be principal of Wycliffe College. His post secondary education included Oral Roberts University in Oklahoma and the University of Tulsa.

At Age 22, Garth joined a marine mission in the Florida/Bahamas area, called “Agape”. In the early 1970s, he helped lead a “Jesus People” ministry in Toronto that, at its height, drew over 1200 young people to St. Paul’s Bloor Street every Thursday night. In 1973, Garth became associate director of a nondenominational retreat ministry, leading youth retreats, worship services, summer camps and marriage seminars. From 1979 to 1992, he pastored a small fellowship that grew out of that retreat ministry. In the mid-80s, he taught a course on Christian Counseling for the Church Army in Toronto.

Garth was ordained into the pastoral ministry in November 1987 and licensed by Elim Fellowship of Canada, a fellowship of pastors and churches flowing out of Elim Bible Institute in Elim, NY. His dad participated in the service, just weeks before he went to be with Jesus. Co-director/founder of Intercessors for Canada from the mid-1980’s until 2003. Garth was made National Prayer Coordinator for ANiC in 2007 and later ordained to the diaconate by Bishop Donald Harvey on June 2008.

In 2009, Garth retired as General Manager of Beckett Canada after 17 years of business leadership. He is happily married with 2 adult sons.

Garth offers a prayer seminar to parishes entitled, “Pursuing Intimacy with God”. If you would like to bring the seminar to your parish or if you have prayer concerns, email Garth or call
