Canadian delegates

My hope and prayer is that GAFCON will advance Christ’s Kingdom by promoting unity, mission, and realignment among faithful Anglicans around the world.

George Egerton

My prayer for our time in Jerusalem is first for each participant, be they Primatial, Ordained or Lay, to have a holy encounter with the living God.  I hope that we can see, hear and feel His presence as we worship, pray, fellowship and deliberate together about the future of this communion that God has called us into.  I am personally praying for this conference to be the beginning of an awesome revival and reformation in the Anglican church, for the Holy spirit to be so present and so active in our midst that we can do naught but fall on our faces before Him in humility and thanksgiving.  That is the seed and the foundation for any decisions that we might make towards reformation

The Rev Barclay Mayo

I hope and pray that:

  • GAFCon will be a time of prayer and witness of the unity and belief of the Global Orthodox Anglicans in the uniqueness of Christ Jesus the only Saviour.
  • Our pilgrimage will bring to life the events of the Bible and bolster our faith in Christ bringing about an even closer relationship with our God and with one another.
  • The Conference will discern and set  “concrete actions” to take to ensure our Anglican future and mission both in the world and in our parishes
  • Each delegate attending will be set on fire and that they will bring that fire back to their parishes and places of ministry and that each member of the people they minister to will catch that fire from them and pass is on
The Rev Simon Chin

“I look forward to being in the presence of these godly people who have come from six continents to worship together.  My prayer is that this will be an oasis from the discouraging and frustrating politics and doublespeak that seems to have overtaken many dioceses and much of the national church.  I pray that there will be a very clear and unambiguous gospel-centred vehicle established that will allow orthodox Anglicans to remain fully engaged in the worldwide Anglican Communion.”

The Rev Don Hamilton

My prayer is twofold:

  • That the conference will have such a dramatic impact on the Anglican Communion through God the Holy Spirit that it will turn back to its biblical roots.
  • That those of us in Jerusalem can be instruments to help the church we love so much to be revived and embrace the Christ of the gospels.

Mr Claus Lenk

My prayer for GAFCon is:

(1) That the Conference will agree with the Archbishop of Sydney that "enough is enough", and take concrete steps to establish an Evangelical Anglican Communion.

 (2) That the Conference will make it crystal clear to the world not only what we believe, but how much we believe it.

Rev. Dr. Marney Patterson, INVITATION TO LIVE MINISTRIES

Global Anglican leaders

"For a long time we have been spending needless money and time, issues that are going in circles.  We want to get out of the circle and get together, think on mission.  What is that the Lord demands of the church?  What is it the need of the world?  Let’s go for it…. I think it is a question of stewardship of time and resources. GAFCON will help us to begin to see how can we now move on… The agendas within the Anglican Communion should shift and some of us should start it.”

Archbishop Henry Luke Orombi, Anglican Church of Uganda
(from an interview on Anglican TV)

What the Americans did in 2003 and what the Canadians did was to rip the communion. If we're talking about schism and the breakup of the communion – that's where it starts and that is where the responsibility is. What GAFCON is doing is saying that given that new state of affairs, how now can we live together and how can we sustain the highest level of communion and work well together...

I am looking forward to an extraordinarily interesting and rather exciting conference….

I… wrote to the Archbishop of Canterbury just a couple of weeks ago to assure him of my prayers for Lambeth and for the successful outcome of the Lambeth conference and he has now written to me and assured me of his prayers for us and his prayers for a successful outcome of this conference as well. So I think that's worth knowing when we talk a great deal about things like schism and so forth.

Archbishop Peter Jensen, Diocese of Sydney, Australia

GAFCON is not just a conference. It's a movement. From the very beginning, the emphasis has been on truth and transformation. There's a very strong evangelical strain in this movement. It's not only evangelical by any means, but there is a strong evangelical strain. Evangelicals are particularly interested in truth. We believe the truth, that we have access to truth in Scripture, and we believe in transformation.
We believe that people's lives could be changed. Our interest is not so much in human sexuality as such, but our interest is in that gospel of Jesus Christ, the truth that transforms, and the impact of that gospel in the whole world.
I would be very surprised of GAFCON didn't turn itself into a movement with sufficient institutional reality to make it a new force within the Anglican Communion. I don't hear much interest in breaking up the Communion or splitting it or dividing it further than it is divided. What I hear is the idea of a new force embracing orthodoxy and empowering people to serve the gospel of truth and transformation.
