The Open Gate Church (formerly St Mary’s Metchosin) is worshiping in rented facilities following a court decision in May 2008.

The Diocese also ordered the clergy and trustees out of the church properties at St Matthias (Victoria) and St Mary’s (Nanoose Bay) after the congregations voted to join ANiC. Both congregations have moved to rented premises in light of the interim court decision in the case of St Mary’s Metchosin. On 25 January 2010, the Diocesan Transformation Team Report recommended the church of St Mary’s Metchosin be “disestablished” or closed, and that they retain the church building as a “diocesan facility”. However, the Diocese of BC synod voted to keep the parish open for now, despite the report.
