In addition to approving the constitution of the Anglican Church in North America, delegates to the inaugural Provincial Assembly also heard that:
• |
the Venerable Charlie Masters, ANiC’s executive archdeacon and national director, will serve as deputy chair of the ACNA Provincial Council until December when the new Provincial Council – composed of one bishop, one clergy and two lay members from each diocese – comes into force. Archbishop-designate Robert Duncan is chair. |
• |
Mrs Cheryl Chang, ANiC chancellor, will serve as one of two assistant chancellors of ACNA. Mr Hugo Blakenship is chancellor. |
Also of interest, the youth at the ACNA Assembly have created a website with the goal of unifying and giving voice to the youth of the Anglican Church in North America. The mission statement includes: We base our faith on historical Christian teachings, and the traditional interpretation of the Holy Scripture. YACNA is a movement of the youth of the Anglican Church who find meaning in the traditions of our religion, and who have a firm foundation in the teachings of God's Word. We believe in "conservative” or "orthodox" Christianity, meaning we adhere to the traditional, or established faith. We strive to bring others to this faith through the teachings of the Old and New Testaments and through the Liturgy of The Book of Common Prayer. We believe in one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, and in upholding the faith as it is expressed in the Creeds.
