Engaging Youth at Synod 2015 |
|
|
|
|
|
This year's synod will include a strong youth ministry emphasis. So... we'd like every ANiC congregation to consider sending a youth delegate to Synod 2015. Those working with youth in your church would also benefit. Here's why:
• |
The youth ministry times will be led by experienced Anglican youth ministry speakers and seminar leaders from around North America like the Rev Dr Steven Tighe, the Rev Dave Little and others. |
• |
You will be challenged as we hear why Gospel ministry to young people is so important |
• |
We will provide practical training for those who work with youth |
• |
We will make coaching available for clergy who wish to start or grow stronger in youth ministry |
• |
We will introduce the Young Anglicans Project's Engage program which equips adults to work with young people even in places where it hasn't happened yet |
• |
There will be a strong focus on networking and creating ways for those involved in youth ministry to receive and give support |
• |
We will provide well-tested Gospel resources for youth volunteers and youth pastors |
• |
We will spend time listening to one another, and praying for one another to see Jesus build us up and send us out |
Much of this will take place at the half-day workshop on Wednesday, October 21 which is entitled Leading Youth to Jesus in Canada. Youth delegates will definitely want to attend this workshop - along with those interested in youth ministry. In addition, youth delegates will be fully involved in synod and there will be youth components to synod itself.
David Little+, youth director at St John's Vancouver, has been asked by Bishop Charlie Masters to provide leadership for the youth initiative at synod. If you have questions, you can email Dave+ at dlittle@sjvan.org.
