Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Our Primate, Archbishop Bob Duncan, has called for churches throughout the Anglican Church in North America to observe the last Sunday after Epiphany each year as World Mission Sunday. This year, that day will be March 6.
Although this is very short notice, I am asking all Anglican Network in Canada churches to join this observance of World Mission Sunday.
In Acts 1:8 Jesus said, "And you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the Earth." This is each Christian's call to engage in world mission. Our vision is to see an Anglican Church in North America that is passionately committed to preach the Gospel and to make disciples of all nations in the name of Jesus Christ.
On March 6, you can highlight this call to world mission through prayers, testimonies, stewardship and education. I also ask each congregation to collect a special world mission offering on that day. You may choose to designate this offering to specific missions and missionaries your church already supports, or you may wish to designate part or all of it to the Anglican Relief and Development Fund Canada (ARDFC). Funds collected for ARDFC will go to our “Taking the Bite out of Malaria” project in the Diocese of Maseno West, Kenya.
