9 September 2015
My dear brothers and sisters,
We give thanks to God for our Queen Elizabeth II who today becomes the longest reigning monarch of Britain - and Canada. As the 'Defender of the Faith" and "Supreme Governor of the Church of England", she holds a special place in the hearts of all Anglicans.
|
God has graciously answered our sung prayer:
"God save our gracious Queen,
Long live our noble Queen,
God save the Queen .
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us,
God save the Queen." |
I ask that all ANiC churches include in their prayers this Sunday a prayer of thanksgiving to God for the life and reign of Queen Elizabeth.
Sovereign God, we give you thanks and praise that you have blessed our Nation and our Church with Elizabeth our beloved Queen. Grant her wisdom, joy and strength to continue her duties in faithful obedience to You, and in devoted service to all peoples throughout Britain and the Commonwealth, now and all the days of her life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
