The Right Revd Robert Duncan, Bishop of Pittsburg, Moderator of the Anglican Communion Network and Chair of the Common Cause Partnership
14th November, A.D.2007
Commemoration of Samuel Seabury
TO OUR DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF THE ANGLICAN NETWORK IN CANADA:
Beloved in the Lord,
Greetings in the awesome Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, true God and true man.
You have come to the moment of decision regarding provincial alignment within our beloved Anglican Communion. You have struggled valiantly for the heart and mind and soul of the Anglican Church of Canada, but that battle is, for the present, lost. We grieve for you in your loss, as we salute you for the stand you have made over these months and years. It was you Canadians who had to stand before we in the States were called to stand. Now it is you who are called to lead in another way.
Your friends in the Anglican Communion Network and in the wider Common Cause Partnership are holding you in our prayers in these momentous days. We are thankful to the clergy and people of the Network parishes in Canada, to Bishop Don Harvey, and to the Province of the Southern Cone for the courage and partnership each has displayed in association with the others. May God bless you all as you move forward.
One of the great gifts of the difficult season we have come through is the deep friendship that has grown up between faithful Anglicans on both sides of our common border. Know that you can count on this friendship for all that is ahead. Whatever you face, we are with you, just as we know you are with us.
Faithfully in Christ,
+Bob Pittsburgh
Moderator, Anglican Communion Network
Chair, Common Cause Partnership
