Ordinations ...
January 13 – The Rev Shihoko Warren will be ordained as a priest on Sunday, January 13 at 3pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd Vancouver. Shihoko has begun conducting monthly Japanese language services in Vancouver. Sixteen were present at the first service, including some seekers.

February 3 – The Rev Melvin Tai and the Rev Len Finn will be ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Charlie Masters and Bishop Stephen Leung at Christ The King (Toronto).


November 14-16 – ANiC synod ...
Theme: “The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. ”

Ordinations this fall ...
September 30 in Embrun, Ontario – The Rev Liba Straznicky will be ordained a priest on September 30 at Faith Anglican Church in Embrun, ON (near Ottawa).

October 12 in Edmonton, Alberta – There will be a service in Edmonton, conducted by Bishop Donald Harvey, on October 12, to transfer and recognize the Rev Robert Gomowed as a priest in ANiC. Robert is ministering to Anglican Filipinos in Edmonton. He is currently a priest of the Communion of Evangelical Churches in the Philippines.

October 14 in Brandon Manitoba – The Rev Denys Scully and his wife Sharon have moved to Winnipeg to pastor St David’s the Faithful. God willing, Denys will be ordained to the priesthood at ANiC’s Church of the Resurrection (Brandon) on Sunday, October 14. Bishop Don will officiate.

November 4 in North Vancouver, BC – Pastor Ahmad Shafeghat, ministering to Christ the Redeemer, our Farsi-speaking church, will be ordained to the diaconate on November 4 in North Vancouver.


September 19 ordination, Athabasca, AB ...
Mr Lyle Lewis – who has served as lay pastor, under the Rev Lynnette Kent, of Living Water Anglican Fellowship (Athabasca, AB) – will be ordained by Bishop Don Harvey to the diaconate September 19 in Athabasca.


August 30 – Ordination and installation of new rector for St Matthias & St Luke’s, Vancouver ...
The Rev Dr Timothy Fong will be ordained as an Anglican priest and installed as rector of St Matthias & St Luke’s (Vancouver, BC) by Bishop Stephen Leung. The service will be held on August 30 (Thursday) at 7:30pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 320 East 15th Avenue, Vancouver. Those in the Vancouver area are urged to attend and everyone is invited to pray for Pastor Fong and his family as they move into ANiC, Vancouver and St Matthias & St Luke’s.

Dr Fong has been pastoring a congregation in Plano, Texas under the Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) denomination. He has also served churches in Hong Kong and California before church planting in Plano.

August 5 ordination in St John’s, NL ...
Jared Driscoll is to be ordained a deacon (transitional) in the Church of God at the Church of the Good Samaritan in St John's, NL on August 5. Please pray for him as he takes this step of faith.

June 10 – Inaugural service for Christ the Redeemer, North Vancouver, BC ...
Christ the Redeemer’s official inauguration service will be held on June 10 at 5pm at Silver Harbour Senior’s Centre, 144 East 22 Street, North Vancouver. All are welcome.

Christ the Redeemer is a Persian congregation ministering to North Vancouver’s large Farsi-speaking community – including people with roots in Iran, Afghanistan and Azerbaijan. The congregation is a church plant initiative of St John’s Vancouver in partnership with ANiC’s Asian and Multicultural Ministries in Canada (AMMiC) under Bishop Stephen Leung. The congregation of about 30 has been meeting regularly since 2011 for Sunday services (3pm) and mid-week Bible studies.

Archdeacon Dan Gifford is acting as priest-in-charge with Pastor Ahmad Shafghat assisting.



June 7-9 – ACNA Provincial Assembly, Ridgecrest, NC ...
Our Province, the Anglican Church in North America, is holding its second province-wide Assembly on June 7-9 in Ridgecrest, North Carolina.  As a diocese, ANiC will be represented in business meetings by our appointed delegates; however, everyone is most welcome to attend the entire event.  The inaugural Assembly in 2009 was most inspirational.  For information and online registration, see the ACNA website.


June 11-12 – Asian & Multicultural Ministries in Canada (AMMiC) 2nd annual conference, Vancouver ...
Following a highly successful 2011 conference, the AMMiC is planning a second conference:

May 25-27 – Healing ministry ...
May 25, 7pm – On the Friday evening prior to these events, Canon Mark will hold a training session at St Luke’s for people involved in healing ministry. Those involved in the ministry of healing and prayer are welcome. There is no charge.

May 26 St Luke’s Pembroke, ON is offering a "Healing the Whole Person" retreat on Saturday. May 26 9:30am to 4pm led by the Rev Canon Dr Mark Pearson. Canon Mark has led retreats for ANiC churches before and comes very highly recommended. He is a prolific author, speaker and director of a Christian renewal and healing centre in New Hampshire. Registration is $25 and people are asked to bring a bag lunch (snacks and drinks provided), however subsidies are available. You can register by emailing St Luke’s or by calling the church office at 613-735-5000.

May 27, 7pm – Canon Mark then will lead a healing service at St Peter & St Paul’s on Sunday evening May 27 (Pentecost).



May 27 – Upcoming ordinations at Good Shepherd (Vancouver, BC) ...
Please pray for the Rev Anson Ann who will be ordained to the priesthood and Shihoko Warren who will be ordained a deacon, both on Pentecost, May 27, at 3pm at Good Shepherd (Vancouver).


May 12 – Ordination on in Ottawa ...
Bishop Charlie Masters will ordain the Rev Brian de Visser to the priesthood on Saturday, May 12 at 4pm at St Peter and St Paul's (Ottawa). All are invited to attend and clergy are invited to robe. Please keep Brian and Sarah and their three children, Anna, Noah and Levi, in your prayers.


April 22 – Celebrating confirmations at Church of the Ascension (Langley, BC) ...
Three adult parishioners will be confirmed on April 22 with Bishop Ron as the celebrant.

April 17 – Celebrating baptisms at Good Shepherd (Vancouver, BC) ...
On Easter Sunday, Bishop Stephen will baptize three adult parishioners and three children. Later, on April 17, he will baptize two adults and one child, as well as confirm three adults, all involved with the restaurant workers’ ministry in Richmond, BC.

April 14 – Celebrating God’s gracious goodness
On April 14, Good Shepherd (Vancouver) will hold a special service to celebrate God’s goodness in allowing them to pay off their mortgage thanks to the bequest of a former parishioner as well as the sacrificial giving of current parishioners. Bishop Stephen Leung, Good Shepherd’s rector, says, “This will be a time to give thanks, to witness to our journey of faith… [and also] to consecrate the church building.” Parishioners will give testimonies; Bishop Don Harvey and other bishops will participate.


April 5 – Vancouver Passover Seder on Maundy Thursday ...
St Matthias and St Luke Church, Vancouver, will host a Passover Seder Supper in association with Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Maundy Thursday, April 5, at 6pm, in the Parish Hall – 320 East 15th Avenue, Vancouver. They are welcoming fellow Christians to experience a Passover Seder. The event will help you understand the Lord’s Supper in the context of the Passover Seder. If interested, please register before March 29, 2012 by emailing info@smslchurch.ca. Seating is limited. Participation is by donation. Please note that the full Seder Supper will last at least a couple of hours.


March 20-22 – ANiC clergy retreat, Cedar Springs, WA (near Vancouver, BC) ...
ANiC’s annual clergy retreat will be held once again at Cedar Springs, 20-22 March 2012.

March 24 – ANiC Toronto Regional Men’s Breakfast ...
The second ANiC men’s breakfast in the Greater Toronto region is planned for Saturday, March 24th at 9am.  Once again it will be held in the Red Crest Golf Club House, just west of Newmarket, ON. Bishop Charlie Masters will be the speaker and the theme is Advancing with Jesus towards Holy Week.  Please register by March 18 by emailing Walter Marshall or calling him at 705 999-2911. March 6-8 – 2012 Anglican1000 Church Planting Summit, Plano, TX ...
ACNA’s annual Anglican 1000 Church Planting Summit is March 6-8, 2012 in Plano, TX. This is an opportunity for leaders, church planters, and anyone interested to come together for a time of equipping, networking, worship, encouragement, prayer and reports from the front lines. Featured speakers include Scot McKnight, Mike Breen, and David Taylor. Register now.


March 2-3 – Ottawa-area ANiC men’s weekend ...
The Rev Garth Hunt will offer a men’s seminar, “Rise Up, O Men of God”, at St Peter and St Paul’s, Ottawa on March 2-3. Please contact the Rev Hunt if you wish to explore holding a men’s weekend in your area.


ANiC ordinations ...
Please be in prayer for those who have just been ordained and who are being ordained to the priesthood and diaconate in ANiC. May God use ANiC clergy to make disciples, plant churches, and build the Kingdom of Our Lord Jesus Christ. ANiC clergy are strongly urged to participate in all ordinations in your area. Your support and encouragement for new ordinands is vital.
On November 20 The Rev Dwight MacPherson, All Saints Anglican Catholic Church, Rutland, Vermont, was ordained to the priesthood.
On January 22, the Rev Denys Scully was ordained to the diaconate at St Matthews Abbotsford, BC. The Rev Scully is a student at Nashotah House School of Theology.
On January 25, the Rev James Carriere was ordained to the diaconate. James will serve as associate priest at Good Shepherd.
On January 29, the Rev Garth Hunt was ordained to the priesthood at St George’s Burlington, ON. The Rev Hunt is responsible for ANiC’s national prayer ministry and men’s ministry, as well as serves as honourary assistant at St George’s.
February 4, Saturday, at 2pm, at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Marlborough, MA:
- The Rev Bruce Thayer to the priesthood. The Rev Thayer is assisting pastor at
  Holy Trinity.
- The Rev Ronald Wheelock to the priesthood. The Rev Wheelock is assisting
  pastor at Holy Trinity and serves a small fellowship in Attleboro, MA.
February 5, Sunday, at 3pm at St John’s Richmond, 8140 Saunders Rd, Richmond, BC:
- The Rev Dr Michael Dobson to the priesthood. The Rev Dobson serves at
  St Andrew’s Delta, BC.
- The Rev Ben Roberts to the priesthood. The Rev Roberts is curate at
  St John’s Richmond.

Vancouver-area women’s conference, February 18 ...
A women’s conference, Out of Context – A Fresh Look at the Lord’s Prayer, will be held in Vancouver on February 18. Carolyn Hindmarch, an ANiC parishioner, will be one of the teachers. The conference will provide teaching on the Lord’s Prayer in a fresh, engaging and reverent way. The intent is that women who come will be encouraged to read the bible in a way that allows deep engagement with God’s Word.
