August 24 – Day of prayer for the Persecuted Church in Syria and Iraq |

|
Archbishop Foley Beach is calling all churches in ACNA – including ANiC congregations – to "include a special time of prayer for the persecuted church during their services this Sunday, August 24th". This is a continuation of his earlier appeal posted here.
A prayer resource has been created for churches to use in this prayer time. Also, this fits well with our diocesan Bishop Charlie Master's earlier appeal for a special collection on August 24 in response to ARDFC's emergency appeal for donations to help Christians in Iraq. (See the ARDFC website for details.
Archbishop Beach continues, "Last week, Canon Andrew White, an Anglican known as the Vicar of Baghdad, vested in red in recognition of the martyrs who gave their life for Christ over the last few weeks, some of whom were members of his own congregation. Clergy who are celebrating or officiating this week are welcome to vest in the color red in solidarity with them and in recognition of this testimony to Christ."
