Update on the Primates meetings - Prayer Request to Members of the Anglican Network in Canada
Dear Friends,
Thank you for faithfully praying for our Church, our Communion and our Communion Primates. As you continue praying during this week of pivotal Primates meetings, we'd like to provide you with additional background and news so your prayers can be more specific and informed.
The Anglican Network in Canada sent a delegation of four people to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, where the Primates of the Global South are meeting prior to the Primates meeting February 14-19. The ANiC delegation of Rev. David Short, Rev. Stephen Leung, Rev. Charlie Masters and Mrs. Cheryl Chang plan to be in Tanzania from February 9 to 16.
The Executive of the Network has been very concerned about the recent press surrounding this meeting, which has focused primarily on the response of ECUSA/TEC to the Windsor Report, and said very little about the situation in Canada and particularly New Westminster. The delegation is there to pray for the Primates and particularly for the Global South Primates meeting. They also want to be available to answer questions from any Primates and report to our constituents on events from a Canadian perspective.
The delegation attended church on Sunday morning at St. Albans in Dar Es Salaam, where coincidentally, some members of the Anglican Consultative Council were attending, including Canon Gregory Cameron, co-secretary of the Panel of Reference and Canon Kenneth Kearon, Secretary General for the Anglican Communion.
After hearing a sermon on the parable of the seeds, the Rev. David Short said “It was very encouraging to hear the Cathedral choir sing the anthem at the end of the service “I Know the Bible is True”.
We continue to ask for your prayers during this time for both the Global South Primates meeting and the Primates meeting.
Please also uphold our Network delegates, asking God to grant them wisdom, good health and favour with the Primates.
