Report from Primates’ meetings in Tanzania

Today is the final day of the Global South Primates meeting. Thank you for upholding these Primates in prayer. The atmosphere at the hotel where the Global South Primates have been meeting has been very peaceful and Spirit-filled. Praise God for the unity He has given.

While the Global South Primates have been meeting these last few days, the Anglican Consultative Council has also been meeting at a nearby hotel. Our delegates report that, from what they have heard, the atmosphere at that hotel has been very different from the atmosphere surrounding the Global South Primates meetings - very tense.

Please pray…
Tomorrow, the Global South Primates gather with all the other Primates and the main meeting begins.
This pivotal meeting will require even more prayer over the next week.

While the US situation is probably the most pressing issue on the Primates' agenda, it is not the only item to be discussed at the meeting. Please pray intensely for the outcome of this meeting as
whatever happens to TEC (The Episcopal Church in the US) as a result of their response to the Windsor Report will be very instructive for Canada.

In addition, the
Panel of Reference Report on New Westminster is on the agenda and we need to keep the faithful parishes in New Westminster in our prayers at this time.

Also pray for
Archbishop Drexel Gomez who injured his foot yesterday. Pray for quick healing and that his injury does not cause him to miss any of the upcoming Primates meeting.

Thank you for upholding our Communion, our Primates and our church in Canada in prayer. These are difficult days. Our leaders need true humility to constructively engage in these difficult issues, great wisdom to discern God's will, and much courage to act in obedience to God's leading.
