To the people of the Diocese of Pittsburgh:
RE: The supposed disposition of Bishop Bob Duncan
... pdf version

30 September 2008

Although not surprised, we are distressed by this further evidence of the infidelity of the Episcopal Church in the United States to the historic Christian faith and Anglican order and tradition.

Bishop Bob Duncan is a leader of unimpeachable character, integrity and godliness – qualities the TEC seems to find so abhorrent it is compelled to remove all those possessing them from its midst. By this action, TEC has decisively moved even further from the rest of the Communion.

The repeated and arbitrary violation of TEC’s own canons by the Presiding Bishop, and now endorsed by the House of Bishops, is scandalous. We have the highest regard for Bishop Bob, as do leaders and Primates throughout in the Anglican Communion. By this lawless act, denying justice to a faithful bishop and global orthodox leader, TEC has shown its true colours for the entire Communion to see.

Bishop Bob is deeply loved and honoured by members of the Anglican Network in Canada. We continue to hold him, his family and the leadership and people of the Diocese of Pittsburgh in our prayers, thanking “God upon every remembrance.”

The Right Reverend Donald F Harvey
Moderator, Anglican Network in Canada
