Intercessory Prayers

Lord Jesus Christ, on the night before Your death on the cross, You told Your disciples: “If you ask anything of the Father in my name, He will give it to you”. You have called each of us to be Your disciples to obey You and to follow where You lead. You have led each one of us here to this synod. So, now Lord, as we gather to worship before the throne of Almighty God we bring our prayers for the world, for Your Church and for one another, asking You to perfect them and to present them to the Father on our behalf as we respond to the phrase: “Lord in Your Mercy” with the words: “Hear our Prayer”

Lord Jesus Christ, we pray first for the World
In our daily lives we are deeply aware of the violence, the injustice and the pain that darken our world, not just in the television images and the news headlines, but secretly in the midst of our communities, in our families and often in our own hearts. We lay before You now our prayers for the world that you have created as it groans under these heavy burdens. We pray for the powerless, the poor and the suffering. We pray for leaders of every nation and of every community who hold the authority and who bear the responsibility for bringing justice and mercy and peace. We pray for forgiveness for the ways that we too have contributed to this burden.

Lord in Your Mercy…

Lord Jesus Christ, we pray for the Church, your bride
We pray for all of those Christians in so many different churches around the world who are committed to sharing the Gospel in Your name.
We remember especially our many brothers and sisters who are today suffering persecution or facing martyrdom for their commitment to You.
We pray for the worldwide Anglican Communion, for its leaders and for all of its members in this time of testing that we all may come to know You as the Way, the Truth and the Life.
We give You thanks and praise for the GAFCON movement and for the establishment of the Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans.
We pray for all of the leaders and partners in the Common Cause movement as they seek to form a new confessing Anglican Province of North America within the Anglican Communion.

Lord in Your Mercy…

Lord, we offer You our prayers for this gathering of the Anglican Network in Canada
We thank you for the enormous efforts of so many over the past year since the establishment of ANiC last November in this place.
We give thanks for the Leadership of Archbishop Greg, Bishop Don, Bishop Malcolm, the members of the ANiC Board, and for the leadership of so many at the parish level.
In the stories of anguish, of sacrifice, of deep blessing, and of hope for the future that we have heard over the last few days, we express our awe and our delight at Your wonderful provision for all of these, now 23 parishes, that have become ANiC members in past year.
Lord Jesus, we pray for Your continued blessing on this Network, on its member parishes and on all those who support its commitment to share Your Gospel. May the Holy Spirit protect us from all assaults of the evil one, prevent us from anything that is not from You, inspire us with Your insight, and enable us to be Your faithful and obedient servants.

Lord, in Your Mercy

Now as we prepare to return home to our churches and our communities
We ask your provision of safety for our travel and Your blessing on all those with whom we will share the experiences of these last days that they too may be encouraged and inspired

Lord, in Your Mercy
