  On Mission

On MissionOur desire is that ANiC churches be outward looking, seeing a world in need and employing our resources – time, talents and finances – to minister to those needs. We want to be On Mission, fueled by the love of Christ, in our communities, in our nation and in our world.

Mission is transformative! As we spend ourselves in the service of others, greed, self-indulgence, lust for money and personal ambition lose their grip on our hearts.

As churches, we can ask ourselves:

What percentage of the church budget is dedicated to missions work (locally, nationally and internationally)?
What is your next step as a congregation in reflecting God’s heart for a lost and hurting world?
Do you pray regularly as a congregation and as individuals for missions?
What existing mission partnerships (near or far) are close to the heart of church members and can be strengthened?
What mission opportunities do you see in your neighbourhood? Are there people who are marginalized, new immigrants, economically disadvantaged, lonely, or hurting?

The On Mission priority team is intent on supporting and encouraging ANiC parishes as they venture further On Mission, embedding global and local missions in their parish DNA.

Diocesan global mission opportunities
AMMiC – ANiC’s Asian and Multicultural Ministries is focused on evangelizing and church planting among new immigrants and ethnic minorities.

ARDFC – Our global relief and development arm – Anglican Relief and Development Fund Canada (ARDFC) partners with Anglican churches in the Global South as they seek to “restore health, hope and dignity in Jesus name” in the midst of often desperate situations.

Cuban church partnership – ANiC churches are partnering with fledgling Reformed Episcopal Church (REC) plants in Cuba.

Nepalese church partnerships – A blossoming partnership between ANiC and the Deanery of Nepal – where dozens of church buildings were leveled by the Spring 2015 earthquakes – will give our churches the opportunity to partner with a Nepalese congregation.

Refugee sponsorship – A number of ANiC parishes are involved in sponsoring refugees. The Rev Rich Roberts is a resource for churches considering this ministry.
