Are we Desperate yet?
Praying for a Great Awakening
What goes off in you as you watch TV news channels these days; aggressively anti-Christian politics, ISIS terrorism and the horrific plight of refugees fleeing their barbarism, school shootings much closer to home, government policies that are contrary to the teaching of Scripture, “good being called evil and “evil” being called good, the marginalization of the church and the total secularization of our society? Does it make you angry at what’s happening to our beloved nation? Do you wring your hands with anxiety or turn the TV off and hope it will all go away? If only there was something we could do...
Well, the good news is that there is. Prayer for revival is both something we can do but also must do. Whenever God is about to bring a fresh awakening upon a nation, the first thing that He does is call His people, the Church, to prayer. But we won’t do it, or perhaps I should say we won’t bother to do it until we’re desperate enough, until we’re fully convinced that there really is no other way out of our culture’s disintegration. We need to be desperate, not despairing. There is an important scripture that we will explore together at this workshop:
“If My people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14.
Come, let’s discover together what this verse’s promise can mean for our parishes, ANiC, Canada and the US.
