“Building on the solid Rock”
Network national conference, November 22-23, 2007

If you have been following events in the Anglican world, you have likely sensed that the years of talking and waiting are nearly over. Change is in the wind. Many Primates are now convinced there is no solution for orthodox Canadian Anglicans within the established structures.

After much consultation and collaboration with the global south Primates and other orthodox Anglicans in North America, and in response to the desperate needs of some Canadian Anglicans, the Anglican Network in Canada will present a substantive option for biblically faithful Canadian Anglicans who are in “serious theological dispute” with their bishop, diocese or the Anglican Church of Canada (ACC). The details of this option will be presented at our November 22-23 conference, Building on the Solid Rock.

As you've seen in recent news reports, hundreds of U.S. congregations, even entire dioceses, are actively preparing for substantive options for orthodox Anglicans in the U.S. And, as you saw in yesterday's statement from the North American Common Cause Council of Bishops, work is now beginning to create what the Common Cause Partners - including the Anglican Network in Canada - hope the Primates will recognize as a North American province.

If you are a member of the Anglican Network in Canada or you are struggling with your place in the ACC because of its theological drift away from historic Anglicanism and the “One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church”, you need to attend this conference. Many have told us they could no longer remain Anglican if a substantive option was not made available to them by the end of this year. We do not wish to lose these faithful people.

So, I trust you now have a sense of the momentous nature of this conference, the import of matters to be considered, and the weighty decisions we will have before us. In addition, we are now working to organize sessions and workshops for the two full days of the conference that will address specific, practical and spiritual ministry needs for clergy and congregations in the new environment we are entering. We hope to answer many questions and address many concerns during the short time we have together. You'll find it well worth your time to attend all the sessions.

I know participating in this conference will be costly for many of you, but I trust, by the grace of God, your sacrifice will be well rewarded.

Although the venue can accommodate a limited number of people, we would love to have as many Network members as possible attend - including, we hope, at least five people from each Network parish.
God is doing a new thing in North American Anglicanism and we are so privileged to be part of it.

I look forward to seeing you in Burlington, November 22. See conference details.
