  The Israel Video Project

Videos from Israel with the Rev Jess Cantelon

Bishop Charlie Masters has commissioned the Rev Jess Cantelon to produce a series of short 5-minute videos based on the Jewish Torah. Jess+ describes the Israel Video Project as “a selfie-stick adventure through the Holy Land” – opening up the Bible with Jewish insight.  He will be preparing these teaching videos through the end of April 2016.

The first episode of this 10-week series is now available. It provides great teaching for all of us as individually and for showing to our congregations.

The videos are roughly 5-minutes long, making them usable for church services, or simply watching as individuals at home or in small group times. You are strongly encouraged to make use of this amazing resource in your churches.
You can learn more about the project here:

This is Israel series

Episode 10 "Achron Shel Pesach" (The last of the Passover) – Deut 14:22 - 16:17
During the Passover, Jewish people look back and look forward. They believe you can't have the Passover without Pentecost. The point of the Passover was not so much deliverance from Egypt as becoming the people of God, as Israel was brought into relationship with God at Sinai. We too, as Christians, were set free to be brought into the family of God - a family that is intended to grow.

Pesach Episode 9 Pesach (Passover)
This week we travel to the beautiful Galilee, Jesus old stomping grounds, to usher in the Passover feast.

Metzora Episode 8 Metzora
Jess+ takes us on a journey through the Jerusalem forest and Ein Kerem, John the Baptist’s home town, to look at what it means to return to God according to the prophet Malachi.

Tazria Episode 7 Tazria “Conceived" (from Leviticus 12:1-13:59)
Jess+ takes us to Qumran and the Dead Sea to take a look at the Jewish ritual of Baptism as practiced by the Essenes. In In this week’s portion we study John’s baptism in living water — not just of the body but of the heart.

Shmini Episode 6 Shmini "Eight" (from Leviticus 9:1-11:47)
Why is the number 8 important and what does it mean and what does it have to do with "strange fire"? Why do so many important events - including the resurrection of Christ - happen on the 8th day? Jess+ explains.

Tzav Episode 5 Tzav "Command" (from Leviticus 6:1 - 8:36)
Anointing was seen as the imparting of spiritual authority and of the Holy Spirit. During this Holy Week, we focus on the Messiah, or the Anointed One, who is both our High Priest and King.

Vayikra Episode 4 Vayikra "And He called" (from Leviticus 1-5)
God told Israel "For it is an awesome thing that I will do with you". Jesus is that awesome thing - God in the flesh living with us. God has committed to journey with us and has provided, in Jesus, a solution for our sins.

Road trip - Pekudei Episode 3 Road trip - Pekudei ("Accounts" from Exodus 38: 21 - 40:38)
The Word became flesh and dwelt amongst us.
We are not forgotten.

Vayakhel Episode 2 Vayakhel ("He assembled", from Exodus 35:1 - 38:20)
Jess+ discusses God's gracious forgiveness in the face of our unfaithfulness and our right response to His grace. Jess+ says "God is asking for willing hearts… Out of the abundance of the heart, the hands give."

Ki Tisa Episode 1 Ki Tisa (from Exodus 30:12 and following)
Jess+ asks us, “Have you ever felt like God has not met you when you really need Him to?” And then explains that God is a promising keeping God through all generations.
